Avery Sunshine

Avery Sunshine has a unique style that combines R&B with soul, gospel music, and R&B. The singer has worked everywhere from Broadway through the Democratic National Convention to the European music scene and the club scenes. Sunshine's the name of Denise White. Though she lives in Atlanta, she originates in Chester Pennsylvania where she began the musical path by singing as well as playing the piano at churches. She studied at Spellman College and began to study the R&B styles of Atlanta. The year 2005 saw Tyler Perry hired her as his primary keyboardist for his stage play Meet the Browns. Jennifer Holliday was the Grammy and Tony Award winner who approached her in 2007 about serving as Choral Director of Dreamgirls, the theatre production in Atlanta's National Black Arts Festival. Sunshine was at the center of attention for America during the four performances per day at the 2008 Democratic National Convention. Sunshine was later invited to sing for President Barack Obama at his inauguration.
