John Denver, a singer-songwriter born in Colorado who specialized in folk-pop music that was a hit with millions of fans. Henry John Deutschendorf Jr. was born in Roswell in New Mexico. He was enthralled by Colorado and settled down in Aspen. Denver's state anthems are a hit and have attracted many newcomers to Colorado. G. Brown, curator of Colorado Music Hall of Fame stated it was because John Denver is the only musician to truly embody Colorado. In 2011, Denver was named the Hall of Fame's very first inductee. Denver has become the image of Colorado for a lot of people around the world. When you encounter people from other nations, for instance New Zealanders, and they declare "I am from Colorado" then they reply "Oh John Denver. Brown declared. Denver's debut Top 10 hit as a solo artist after a short career performing in small folk music groups included Take Me Home Country Roads which was co-written by Bill Danoff. Danoff composed the track using Johnny Cash in mind but when Denver heard an early version it was clear that the song was likely to become an instant hit. Following the performance in Washington D.C. to a massive crowd, Denver recorded it just days later.
